In March, MARS and the Scottish FA announced a 4-year partnership with the Scotland team, and working together to get more adults playing the beautiful game.

The MARS® sponsorship of the Scottish FA and Scottish teams was part of a programme to encourage people to play football.

In March, MARS® and the Scottish Football Association announced a 4-year partnership that sees the MARS® brand become an Official Partner to Scotland until July 2014. As the main focus of the relationship, MARS® will be working with the Scottish FA to encourage footballers over 18 to play more football more often.

The long-term partnership will see MARS® involved with the Scottish FA in a number of key areas of Scottish football:

  • Working as a partner with the Scottish FA over the next four years on a new initiative to encourage adults to get back into playing football
  • Official Partner of the Scottish FA
  • Official Partner of Scottish teams

Gordon Smith, Scottish FA Chief Executive, commented on the announcement: “The aim is to develop a long-term strategy that will encourage adults of all abilities to play football; whether it’s returning to the game or playing for the first time. The relationship with MARS® will extend even further, working jointly to ensure the fans have greater access and input to what we are sure will be an exciting new era as we look forward to the UEFA Euro 2012 qualification campaign.”

Fiona Dawson, Managing Director of MARS® Chocolate UK, added: “We’re very excited to be getting more involved with football in Scotland, from the grassroots game to the national team. Partnering with the Scottish FA in this way is a great opportunity for MARS® to encourage our consumers to lead a healthy, active lifestyle and playing football is a great way to do this. This relationship further builds on MARS®' long heritage of supporting football at all levels.”
